FREEPORT, ME — Maine Golf is pleased to announce the recipients from the class of 2024 earning awards from the Maine Golf Scholarship Fund. Since its inception in 1950, the Fund has helped nearly 600 students hailing from all 16 counties across the Pine Tree State to pursue higher education. Maine Golf is now approaching $2.3 million given as scholarships over the years to Maine students with a passion for golf.

“Reading essays about how golf has made a difference in each student’s life is truly amazing,” says Brian Bickford, executive director of Maine Golf.  “This year’s recipients are as talented a group as I’ve seen in a long time. Maine Golf is truly proud of each recipient and their accomplishments!”

Students are selected based on their character, financial need, academic performance, and participation in the game of golf and/or golf industry. For 2024, the Maine Golf Scholarship Fund Committee has selected 16 new students to receive awards of $1,500 per year, renewable for up to four years of undergraduate education. Two additional students will receive a one-time grant of $5,000 from the Frank Langlois Scholarship Fund.

“Awarding these scholarships to outstanding student-athletes across Maine every year is one of our most important initiatives at Maine Golf. We want to thank our entire community of donors, players, volunteers, and member clubs for enabling the scholarship program to continue to thrive,” says Neil Angis, chair of the Maine Golf Board.
