SCARBOROUGH — The final championship of the 2022 Maine Golf season gets underway today at Prouts Neck CC with the third playing of the Senior Match Play Invitational. This 16-player event brings together some of the top senior players in the state in a two-day bracket format match play championship where it’s win or go home.
The field is made up of the top six finishers (and ties) from the 2022 Senior Amateur Championship, played last month just across town lines at Purpoodock Club in Cape Elizabeth. The rest of the field consists of the top finishers from the 2022 Senior Player of the Year points table at the end of August. On September 21 all 16 players will tee it up, with the 8 winners advancing to the afternoon quarterfinals. Play will wrap up on September 22 with the semifinals in the morning followed by the finals in the afternoon.
