POLAND – The 2022 Mixed Championship saw the largest field in tournament history, with 156 players teeing it up at Fairlawn GC in this annual event. Teams competed in a modified alternate shot format in this fun and competitive event that drew players from across the state. At the end of the day, it was two junior golfers in Eli Spaulding and Jade Haylock who took down the title, shooting a score of 65 (-7) to win by two strokes.
Spaulding is coming fresh off a win in the Maine Junior Championship last week at Dutch Elm, and the 16-year old from Brunswick GC kept the momentum going on Sunday. Paired with 15-year old Jade Haylock from Turner Highlands GC, who won her flight at last week’s Junior as well, the two birdied their last four holes to take the title. The duo made eight birdies on the day against only one bogey. They won the event by two strokes over the teams of Chris King and Sally Williams and Greg Kalagias and Jordan Laplume.
On the net side, Willowdale superintendent Rick Lewis and his daughter Alyssa shot a blistering 55 to win that division.
Maine Golf would like to thank Fairlawn for being great hosts and providing a great venue for this always popular event.
