The Maine Golf women’s Metropolitan Club Team Championship took place June 19 and 20 at Belgrade Lakes Golf Course. The course was soft from all the recent rain which added “length” to an already challenging venue. The first day of competition saw some fine play by the Brunswick team of Ruth Appleyard, Helen Boucher, Emily Droge and Donna Brunette who shot the low gross target to beat of 1-under 70. Faith Jenkins led her Dutch Elm team of Patty McDonald, Mindy LaRoche and Delaney Roche to an amazingly low net 55 win with an eagle 2 on the par 4 15th hole.

The second day of competition was a “family” affair with the team from Turner Highlands of Heidi Haylock, Ruby Haylock, Jade Haylock and Morghan Dutil seizing the overall championship title with an impressive 3-under 68. Low net honors for round 2 went to the Val Halla team of Meredith Koerner, Kris Hughes, Judy Ingraham and Kim Burnham with a net 59.

As always the Belgrade Lakes Golf Course provided a welcoming venue with the best views for all the teams in the competition.
