< RETURN TO Scholarship
CUMBERLAND, ME – The Maine State Golf Association is pleased to announce the recipients from the class of 2021 earning awards from the Maine Golf Scholarship Fund. The Maine Golf Scholarship Fund to date has now helped nearly 560 students hailing from all 16 counties across the Pine Tree State to pursue higher education. The Maine Golf is approaching $1.8 million given in scholarships to these recipients since its modest inception in 1950.
“One of the highlights of our year is the announcement of the scholarship fund recipients,” says Brian Bickford, executive director of the Maine Golf. “The quality and quantity of this year’s applicants was exceptional. It’s truly an honor to recognize our next generation of Maine golfers as they further their education.”
Students are selected based on their character, financial need, academic performance, and participation in the game of golf and golf industry. For 2021, the Maine Golf Scholarship Committee has selected 14 new students to receive awards of $1,500 per year, renewable for up to four years of undergraduate education. Two students will receive a one-time grant of $5,000 from the Frank Langlois Scholarship Fund.
“The Board of Directors is extremely proud to award scholarships to 16 deserving student-athletes from across the state this year,” says Neil Angis, chair of the Scholarship Fund Committee. “The awarding of scholarships has been fundamental to the Maine Golf’s mission to serve, grow, and strengthen the game of golf in Maine. I want to thank all Maine Golf members and volunteers for helping to make these meaningful scholarships possible through their steadfast engagement and support.”
