BELGRADE LAKES – The first women’s championship of the year wrapped up on Tuesday, June 21 at Belgrade Lakes GC, with a full field taking on the central Maine course over two days. In this always popular team event, players from the same club competed in a best ball tournament on Monday and Tuesday. In the end, the team of Stephanie Babin, Mary Pirkola, Bernice Vadnais, and Laura Blanchette of Biddeford-Saco CC emerged as the victors, shooting the only under-par round of the tournament with a score of 69. Their two-under par score was good enough to win by three strokes over the nearest team from The Woodlands.
