CHASKA, MN — Freeport’s Eli Spaulding will tee it up in the 124th United States Amateur Championship as the lone competitor representing Maine this week. The 18-year old Brunswick Golf Club member earned his spot in the U.S. Am after winning the Maine Amateur Championship last month at Purpoodock Club, the first year that state amateur champions have received an automatic spot in the nation’s oldest and most prestigious amateur tournament.
Spaulding will be among the elite field of 312 players from around the states and the globe, competing in Minnesota at Hazeltine National GC and Chaska Town Course. After 36 holes, the field is cut to the low 64 players who will advance to match play.
Round 1 tee time: 2:09 p.m. (Chaska Town Course)
Round 2 tee time: 8:39 a.m. (Hazeltine National GC)
