The series of six qualifiers for the 2024 Maine Amateur Championship continues over the next two weeks, as players from across the state try to play their way into the state’s most prestigious and storied championship. Over the first three weeks of June, two qualifiers per week will take place to determine the rest of the field for the 105th playing of the Amateur, which returns to Purpoodock Club in Cape Elizabeth on July 9-11.

This year saw a record number of entries into the Amateur qualifiers, with 417 players registered to try and play their way into Purpoodock. In all, 55 players are exempt into the Amateur, leaving 77 spots available over the 6 host sites, which will take place from Saco to Presque Isle in the coming weeks to round out the final field of 132 for the championship proper.
