The first of six qualifiers for the Maine Amateur Championship gets going on June 3 at Sanford CC, where the first group of players will advance to the 106th Maine Amateur at Waterville CC next month. Over the three weeks, Maine Golf will host six qualifiers across the state to determine the rest of the field that will join a group of already exempt players in the state’s preeminent amateur golf tournament.
This year Maine Golf received 421 applicants for the six sites, a record number of players looking to qualify for the event. In addition to the 56 players who earned a spot via exemption into the tournament, 76 players from the six sites will advance to Waterville.
