MANCHESTER – Caleb Manuel was coming off a well-needed break after his junior year at the University of Georgia, where he plays for the division one golf powerhouse. He took a trip to Australia in the past few weeks and just got back in time to tee it up in the Maine Event at Augusta CC. Apparently there wasn’t much rust in his game, as the two-time defending Maine Amateur champion shot rounds of 66-65—131 (-9) to win this year’s Maine Event by five strokes over professional Shawn Warren.

This event has been played for the last four years, being born out of the pandemic when state borders were closed to outside golfers. The event is open to male and female Maine resident players, including both professionals and amateurs alike. Manuel was part of a strong 89 player field this year with the event returning to Augusta CC on June 26-27.

In addition to Manuel winning the overall championship, congrats to all of the division winners from this year’s championships. And a special thanks to the crew at Augusta CC for their hard work and for presenting wonderful course conditions for the field despite the continued wet weather that has enveloped the state for most of June.
