FALMOUTH — The busy stretch of championship golf continues in Maine this week, with the Pine Tree State playing host to the New England Amateur Championship on July 18-20 at The Woodlands Club. Many of the top male amateur golfers from across the six New England states will come to the difficult course in Falmouth to fight for the region’s biggest title over three rounds this week.

Maine has 28 players in the field this week, second of any state besides Massachusetts. Players earned a spot in this week’s field either via exemptions from last year’s play or by qualifying at one of a handful of sites around New England last month. The championship consists of 54 holes of individual stroke play, with a cut after two rounds to the low 60 players and ties who will advance to Thursday’s final round.
