In just its second year here in Maine, young golfers across the state logged over 3,000 rounds of golf in 2022 with support from Youth on Course, a program that brings affordable course access to youth golfers throughout the state of Maine and around the country. Youth on Course provides golfers ages 6-18 access to play at any participating course for $5 or less per round.
There are 24 courses that participate in the program statewide, giving the next generation of Maine players access to golf courses for just $5 or less per round. The remainder of those green fees are paid to clubs from donations that allow young golfers to play golf in all corners of the state at a reasonable price.
Maine Golf would like to thank all of the courses that take part in this initiative, which removes barriers of cost to allow youth golf to be played at an affordable rate for all. In total, 3,045 rounds were played by Maine’s Youth on Course members. Below are the courses in Maine that had the most participation in 2022:
- Riverside Golf Course, Portland – 1,877 rounds
- South Portland Municipal Golf Course, South Portland – 375 rounds
- Maine Golf Center Freeport, Freeport – 199 rounds
- Bangor Municipal Golf Course, Bangor – 156 rounds
- Dutch Elm Golf Course, Arundel – 114 rounds
