A record field of 82 teams descended on Val Halla GC on August 26 for the 2023 Mixed Championship. This annual event features a fun Pinehurst style alternate shot competition, where teams from around the state partnered up for one of the last championship events of the summer. When the dust settled at the end of the day for the full field, it was Jade Haylock and Eli Spaulding who walked away with the hardware, shooting a round of 65 (-7) to win the title.

Haylock and Spaulding are still in high school, but proved they can play with anyone in the state. Despite a bogey on their first hole of the day, the duo rattled off eight birdies on the day to win the tournament by two strokes. They were two shots clear of Jade’s sister, Ruby, and her partner Wyatt Folsom, who carded 67 for solo second. This was the second year in a row that Jade and Eli have won this tournament, having taken the win last summer at Fairlawn.
The only other team in the field to break par on the day were Danielle Rock and Jace Pearson, who carded 70 (-2). Their round was highlighted by a hole in one from Rock on the 11th hole. It was her first career ace.
Maine Golf would like to thank Val Halla for hosting this fun event and providing the field with a great day on the course.
