SACO — Maine Golf will be at Biddeford Saco Country Club for the 2024 Maine Women’s Amateur Championship. Last year’s champion Erin Holmes will defend her title against a field of 89 players including a past champion and many top-ten finishers from previous championship seasons. The Haylock sisters always bring a competitive challenge. Ruby is a former MWA champ (2020 and 2022) and Jade, finished 3rd in the MWA last year and was a top Maine finisher at NEWGA. Other 2023 top-10 MWA finishers Alexis McCormick, Maria Cianchette and Abby Flanagan will be in the mix to try to capture the title.

Past and current Senior Champions,Thea Davis (2022), and Micki Meggison (2023) as well as the 2023 Women’s Match Play Champion, Mary Brandes, hope to bring their veteran skills to challenge the field.

The 54-hole stroke play competition begins on Monday, July 15 with tee times starting at 7:30 off Hole #1. After Round 2, the field will be cut to 50% of field and ties. The championship event will end in full view of spectators, as the hole configuration has been altered, so competitors will finish their rounds on the BSCC ninth hole.
