< Return to Youth & Junior Golf
Maine Golf is committed to promoting junior golf throughout the state by exposing new players to the game, encouraging existing players, and growing the game of golf for the next generation. Whether through initiatives of our own or working with other golf organizations in the region, we aim to make playing golf in Maine as fun and accessible as possible to young golfers here in our state.
Opportunities abound for players looking to enter the game of golf whether for instruction, fun, play or competitive tournaments in the region. Below is a “road map” of golfer opportunities at all levels and all ages. Should you have any questions, please email Joe at joe@mainegolf.org.
Maine Junior Individual & Team Championship

Maine Golf is combining two popular formats into one tournament and calling it the Maine Junior Individual & Team Championship. This will be a marquee two-day, 36-hole event hosted by Riverside Golf Course, Portland, Maine on August 1st & 2nd.
Similar to the Maine high school state championships, we will run an individual and team championship at the same time. The team championship is an “optional” additional opportunity to play with a teammate, friend or acquaintance. It is not mandatory to have a teammate to play in the event.
Teams will be comprised of two players. Players may select their teammate however they see fit. There are no restrictions. Teams will be flighted based on the age of the older player of the two participants.
Individuals, that want to play as individuals only, are encouraged to compete at the same time for the overall medalist. The individual medalist will be the Maine Junior Champion. We will have flights for the individual winners as well.
ELIGIBILITY
The Maine Junior Individual and team Championship is open to Maine resident amateurs who have not yet reached their 19th birthday on August 21, 2023. Non-resident juniors. who are members of a Maine Golf member club, live in Maine in the summer months and who compete in at least five NEPGA Junior Tour events are also eligible for the Maine Junior Championship only.
